Homestead Planner Spreadsheet + Printable Binder | Garden, Chicken, Egg & Canning Tracker | Cost per Pound & per Jar |
Keep your homestead organized without turning your homestead into another full-time paperwork job.
The Homestead Ledger is a beginner-friendly recordkeeping system for small homesteads: a garden, a small flock, and a pantry of food you put up yourself.
Write down what you buy, harvest, collect, and preserve. The workbook does the math.
What it figures for you:
What each crop cost you per pound in supplies
Feed cost per dozen eggs
Cost per jar or bag for every canning, freezing, or drying batch — including the garden produce you used
Monthly spending by garden, animals, preserving, and everything else, against your budget, Feed to reorder, seeds you're out of, jars to use soon, and batches that still need a label
What's inside:
Editable workbook (Excel format), BLANK and SAMPLE copies, 27 tabs
46-page printable binder with 23 worksheets that match the workbook
One full month on a sample homestead, week by week, with every number explained
Garden-to-pantry demo: from seed packet to cost per quart
Quick start, setup guide, glossary, troubleshooting, FAQ, seasonal checklist, quick reference card
What it won't do: it doesn't tell you when to plant, how to treat an animal, or how long to process a jar. Those depend on where you live and on tested guidance. It gives you a place to record your frost dates, your vet's instructions, and your tested recipe source — and points you to your local extension office and the National Center for Home Food Preservation.
Compatibility: standard .xlsx using common functions (SUMIFS, INDEX/MATCH).
Checked in Excel format; not tested inside Google Sheets or Apple Numbers. The printable works on its own with a pencil. Digital download — nothing ships.
